Why do some people dislike musicals?

Some people just aren't fans of musicals, and there are a few reasons why. For starters, they can find the spontaneous singing and dancing unrealistic and distracting from the storyline. Others may feel that the music itself is too over-the-top or cheesy. There are those who simply prefer more traditional forms of storytelling and feel that dialogue is interrupted too often with song. Lastly, the length of musicals can be off-putting for some, as they typically run longer than standard movies or plays.
